Five Signs That You Need Brake Repairs

Automotive Blog

All too often, vehicle owners don't get brake repairs when they are needed. This leads to the brakes becoming extremely dull to the point that your car begins shaking when you brake or moving to a certain side while breaking. On top of this, a loud squealing noise can be very embarrassing. In order to avoid these major problems, you should know of these five more subtle signs that indicate you need brake repairs right away:

  1. Warning Lights: Many vehicles will have a warning light indicator on the dashboard that tells you your brakes are in need of repairs. It's important not to ignore this warning light, but instead take your vehicle in for the brake repairs right away. Check your owner's manual to determine what warning lights on your dashboard indicate what kind of problem.
  2. Strange Noises: Before the high pitched squealing noise starts, you may notice subtle grinding noises when you brake. This means that your pads are worn and if you continue to drive with your vehicle in this condition, eventually the brakes will cause damage to the rotors, which is much more expensive to repair. Be sure to turn down your music and roll down your windows every once in a while to help you more clearly hear if your brakes are making any noises.
  3. Pressing too Hard on the Pedal: If you notice that you are pushing too hard on the brake pedal when you brake, it's a sign that your brakes are not helping your vehicle stop in time. You should only have to press slightly on the brake pedal in order to come to a stop.
  4. You've Driven Over 6,000 Miles Since Last Brake Service: Even if you don't notice any problems with your brakes, if you have driven over 6,000 miles since your last brake service, it's still important to get them checked. This is because brakes tend to begin to perform poorly at this point.
  5. Fluid Leak: If you notice any brown fluid that is gathering near your tires when you park, it could be a sign of a brake fluid leak, which needs to be fixed right away. Without the brake fluid, your brakes can fail you completely when you need them most.

When you notice any of these five signs, you should be taking your car in for brake repairs or at least an inspection. This way you are sure to be driving safely on the road and preventing more major issues from developing in the future. For more information, contact a company like Advanced Auto Care.

Talking About Automotive Stereo Systems

Hi, I’m John Malony. Welcome. I would love to share my knowledge about automotive stereo systems with you on this site. I started learning about stereo systems after acquiring my first car. I equipped my vehicle with a nice head unit, amp and six speakers plus a subwoofer. The stereo offered incredibly improved vocals and bass over the stock equipment. I will use this site to talk about picking out your stereo equipment and installing it in your vehicle. I will focus on techniques that protect your vehicle’s interior component despite making such big changes. Thanks for visiting my website.
